Should I Upgrade My Computer to Windows Vista?

Even so Windows Vista has been available for a few years now. It still receives a lot of negative press from the media and particularly the internet forums. But is it as bad as people say or is it time for a fresh revaluation of Microsoft's latest Operating System?

Right from the launch of Windows Vista, it was criticized for a hole host of problems. The complaints ranged from buggy performance, high hardware requirements and incompatibilities to name a few. Gamers in particular gave Microsoft's latest operating system a bashing as most if not all video games lost a huge of chunk of performance and duel graphics card set-up PCs just didn't plain work at all!

However Microsoft have swore that overtime they will tackle the issues head on to make Windows Vista their best operating system yet. Now with the release of the latest Service pack and all the additional updates that have been added to Vista over the past few years, is it finally a worthy Operating system worth owning?

After extensive testing, it appears Microsoft have lived up to their promise and as a result, improved Windows Vista significantly. For starters Microsoft has improved Vista's overall stability. This was a major concern as many customers at launch complained that it would frequently crash for no apparent reason. Now Windows Vista very rarely crashes and when it does, this can be normally put down to another application not been probably optimized for it.

And talking of 3rd party applications... There was a considerable amount at Windows Vista's Launch that was simply not compatible or optimized for Vista. This is definitely not the case as most 3rd party software developers have had plenty of time to make their software compatible with and as a result, is no longer a problem.

Another bugbear Windows Vista had at launch was it's huge hardware demand to make Vista operate at a acceptable level. However, with the additional updates and in particular the arrival of the latest Service pack, Windows Vista now runs at a more than acceptable speed. Though still not as fast or demanding as XP performance wise, but the need for additional hardware like extra memory is now definitely a thing of the past.

Though Microsoft have done a fantastic job on increasing Windows Vista's performance, gamers still opt for XP. Vista, despite all the improvements Microsoft have made, still is a more demanding operating system than it's predecessor... Windows XP. And this of course reflects in the performance and frame rates of video games.
